Phonotheca

Your audio library’s best mate.

Phonotheca is a native macOS audio metadata editor. It reads and writes the tags on the files you already have: two levels of metadata editing, artwork replacement, automatic track numbering, filename / TXT / CSV conversion in both directions, and a raw view of what TagLib actually sees.

Editing happens in place, on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded. MusicBrainz, the iTunes Search API and LRCLIB are there when you want them, and every one of those requests is started by you — they send search terms derived from a file’s metadata, never the file.

The only thing that reaches the network on its own is the update check, and only a released build has one. A build compiled from source carries no update key, so it contacts nothing at all.

Phonotheca is a renamed continuation of AudioMator by Christopher Lloyd, kept under the MIT license. The name is Greek φωνή (sound) + θήκη (repository).
